SCAD FASH Invitation
Overview
SCAD FASH, the Museum of Fashion and Film at SCAD Atlanta, served as the foundation for this project. The objective was to conceptualize and design an event invitation that not only met specific technical requirements but also showcased creative innovation. The final design was required to incorporate various paper types and feature a unique, intricate die cut that aligned with the envelope’s design. Additionally, the invitation's theme had to be inspired by a selected garment from a fashion designer, seamlessly integrating the aesthetics of the piece into the overall design concept.
Concept
The dress selected for this project was Transmotion by Ms. Iris Van Herpen. It was showcased on a digital platform to capture the unconscious state of meditation conveyed through the interplay of movement and light in the garment.
To reflect these qualities, the die-cut design on the cover of the invitation was inspired directly by the intricate details of the dress. In contrast, the interior of the invitation adopted a more minimalistic approach, echoing the designer’s use of solid colors that complement her fluid, sculptural aesthetics.
Foil detailing on the inside continued the theme of movement, creating a visual and conceptual flow between the exterior and interior of the invitation.
