SCAD FASH Invitation
Overview
SCAD FASH is the museum of Fashion and Film located at SCAD Atlanta. The objective of this project was to conceptualize and develop designs for an event invitation. The invitation had to utilize differ- ent papers, contain a unique and complex die cut matching the envelope’s design while also meeting specific technical require- ments. The theme of the invitation had to follow a dress chosen from a designer.
Concept
The dress that was chosen for this project was Transmotion creat- ed by Ms Iris Van Herpen. It was published on a digital platform to embody the unconcious state of meditation powered by the dress through a play on movement and light. In order to create a product that accurately reflected these details the die cut that was done for the cover of the invitation was created reflecting the dresses design. The interior of the invitation was more minimalistic in order to reflect the designers use solid colors that compliment her fluid designs. The foiling that was done inside the invitation still repre- sented movement in order to create a continuous flow within the outer and interior space.
